Graduate students in the School of Library & Information Science partnered with Keokuk Public Library staff to build a database to extend access to the Bickel Collection housed at the library.

The Bickel Collection, comprised of 42 scrapbooks that contain newspaper clippings related to local life from the end of the 19th through mid-20th century, is held at the Keokuk Public Library. Students created an online database so that this unique collection could be both preserved and accessed easily. Omeka, the new home for the Bickel Collection, is a content management system known for being user friendly.  Students have outlined the steps for uploading individual pages from the notebooks, and have provided a framework for KPL staff members to model and continue.
