Maddasion gave a special thanks to all the city employees, to volunteers who serve on boards and commissions, to the City Council and to the citizens “who it truly is a pleasure to serve.
After thanking “key partners” such as state and federal lawmakers, state and local officials, the school district and Clinton Community College, he noted how leadership of he city has changed. City Administrator Matt Brooke has had 15 Council member and two mayors in the past 8 years, and then introduced the current council.
Maddasion then talked about successful partnerships with the University of Iowa to complete multiple projects led by Brooke and his department heads.
“So finishing up this past summer, the city benefited in so many ways from the studies and projects — 20 in total — that the University of Iowa students completed that we’ll be able to use for years to come. Amazingly we had 101 students that participated, 14 advisers.”
More than 10,000 hours were committed to the 20 projects.
Maddasion highlighted some of the projects including the greening of downtown, trail development, festival area development, a housing needs assessment, the Liberty Square master plan and campground design specifically trying to find a spot for some tent camping.
