City of West Branch
Located in both Cedar and Johnson Counties, the city of West Branch has a population of about 2,500. It was founded by Quakers in the late 1860s. President Herbert Hoover was born in West Branch in 1874, and the community is now the site of the Hoover Presidential Library and Museum. West Branch is part of the Main Street Iowa program since being accepted on June 1, 2006. The program encourages downtown economic development through historic preservation.
