Bondurant - Eagle Park & Bluejay Landing Park Integrated Design Project
As part of their Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students will provide design and analysis support for an integrated parks and environmental engineering project along Mud Creek in Bondurant.
Students will create a detailed design of a paved pedestrian crossing over Mud Creek, connecting Eagle Park on the east to the currently unimproved Bluejay Landing Park on the west. This connection will serve new neighborhoods under construction west of Mud Creek and provide safe pedestrian access to community amenities, including nearby schools. In addition to the crossing, students will create a detailed design for Bluejay Landing Park, with an emphasis on low-impact, nature-based improvements such as a natural playscape playground, native plantings, and amenities that respond to the site’s constraints including the floodplain area. The project will also include a stormwater and wetlands analysis of Mud Creek, particularly north of the crossing area, to inform trail alignment, park design, and long-term resilience.
The project may include conceptual planning for the continued northward expansion of Eagle Park, a long, linear park that has developed incrementally alongside residential growth.
