West Branch - Truck Route and Downtown Streets Redesign

For their capstone project in Civil & Environmental Engineering, a team of students will improve the functionality of West Branch streets by designing a safer, more efficient truck route while balancing residential, environmental, and floodplain constraints.

For new truck routing, the team of students will analyze the current route, evaluate alternative alignments, address constraints, and develop a roadway design and plans.

West Branch - Utility Evaluation and Replacement

For their capstone project in Civil and Environmental Engineering, a team of students will develop a comprehensive plan to evaluate, prioritize, and design utility replacements in a subdivision in West Branch. 

The student team will assess existing utilities, evaluate replacement options, prioritize improvements, design replacement systems, and provide a phased implementation roadmap for the City of West Branch.

The City of West Burlington sought an evaluation and redesign of its downtown area to enhance functionality and visual appeal, facilitate public events, attract visitors. For their capstone project, a group of Civil and Environmental Engineering students designed multiple components for the downtown area, including green medians, permeable paved roadways, covered parking, a pedestrian walkway, and reconfigured parking.
