Granger - Community Center Mural
University of Iowa alumni and artist Emily Edwards will partner with the City of Granger to design and install a mural on an exterior wall of the community center in Granger, Iowa.
Granger - Community Health Fair
College of Nursing students will partner with the City of Granger to plan and implement a community health fair that promotes health, wellness, and disease prevention for residents of all ages.
Building on community assessment activities completed during the fall semester, the project team will collaborate with local partners to deliver evidence-informed health education, screenings, and community resources tailored to Granger's identified health priorities.
Granger - Community Park and Recreation Center Designs and Plans
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students will create designs and plans for a 26-acre park and recreation building in Granger, Iowa.
Granger - Crisis Communication Plan
Students in a Journalism and Mass Communication course will partner with the City of Granger to develop a crisis communication plan that prepares the City to communicate effectively with residents, businesses, media, and other stakeholders during a crisis.
Granger - Downtown Streetscaping
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students will create designs for streetscape improvements in downtown Granger, Iowa.
The City of Granger seeks to revitalize its downtown with streetscape improvements along Main Street and Broadway Street. As the community continues to grow, the City aims to create a downtown that is safe, accessible, attractive, and supportive of local businesses while improving the overall experience for residents and visitors.
Granger - Economic Development Portal
Students enrolled in a Graphic Design course will partner with the City of Granger to develop an economic development website that promotes the community to prospective businesses, developers, entrepreneurs, and investors.
Through strategic visual communication and user-centered design, students will create concepts that help communicate Granger's economic development opportunities while making information more accessible to businesses considering investment in the community.
Granger - Oxley Creek Improvements
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students will evaluate opportunities to make improvements to Oxley Creek in Granger, Iowa and develop designs and plans for the City of Granger.
Granger - Parks & Trails Master Plan
Urban Regional Planning graduate students in the School of Planning & Public Affairs will partner with the City of Granger to create a Parks and Trails master plan that provides a comprehensive vision for Granger’s local park system, recreation facilities, natural resources, and other public open spaces.
Granger – Age-friendly Community Initiative
Master of Public Affairs graduate students in the School of Planning & Public Affairs will design an age-friendly community initiative for the Granger, Iowa community.
Communities across the state and country, especially in rural places, are experiencing rapid demographic shifts. Aging will be an increasingly important issue in Iowa, particularly over the next couple of decades as the baby boomer generation enters late stages of life.
Granger - Public Safety Building
As part of their Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students designed a Public Safety Building to meet the needs of the growing city of Granger.
Currently the Granger Fire & EMS Department shares a small building on Main Street with Granger City Hall and an adjacent trailer serves as headquarters for the Granger Police Department. These departments have outgrown their current spaces and seek a new building that will house all three departments.
