A team of students in the Tippie School of Business Marketing Institute will partner with a non-profit Friends of Blood Run to develop a strategic marketing and public engagement approach that increases awareness and understanding of the Blood Run National Historic Landmark (NHL). Located in northwest Iowa and the historic home of the Oneota people from approximately 1500 to 1720 AD, Blood Run is a significant cultural and historic site. Friends of Blood Run is seeking to build greater public awareness and support.

As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, a group of students will develop plans and designs for flood impact mitigation in the city of George, Iowa along Skunk Creek.

Students studying public art practice in the School of Art & Art History will create a series of site-specific art installations along an existing community trail in George, Iowa. 

IISC will partner with Lyon County to conduct a comprehensive housing needs assessment and develop informed recommendations for county-wide housing policy.

County leadership recognizes the need for a data-driven understanding of housing demand, affordability, and development opportunities to support residents, employers, and long-term economic growth in Lyon County.

As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students will create designs for development of a new residential neighborhood in Inwood, as well as a stormwater management plan for the site. 

As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students will create proposals for the adaptive reuse of the Larchwood Community Center.

The City of Larchwood is exploring opportunities to repurpose its old community center to better serve current and future community needs. The City is seeking engineering recommendations that evaluate multiple adaptive reuse alternatives and provide conceptual designs to help inform future investment decisions.
