Lyon County - Friends of Blood Run Marketing Strategy

A team of students in the Tippie School of Business Marketing Institute will partner with a non-profit Friends of Blood Run to develop a strategic marketing and public engagement approach that increases awareness and understanding of the Blood Run National Historic Landmark.

Located in northwest Iowa and the historic home of the Oneota people from approximately 1500 to 1720 AD, Blood Run is a significant cultural and historic site. Friends of Blood Run is seeking to build greater public awareness and support.

The team will serve as marketing consultants for Friends of Blood Run, researching the organization's audiences, current communications, and opportunities to strengthen awareness and engagement. The student team will determine the research, audience analysis, messaging, and strategic recommendations needed to address the organization's goals. The project will consider how Friends of Blood Run can communicate the site's cultural and historical significance to different audiences and create a more cohesive identity and communication strategy across its website, digital communications, social media, educational outreach, and other marketing efforts.

The team will identify the highest-priority marketing and communication tools for the organization and develop practical recommendations that reflect the capacity of a small nonprofit organization. The project will also consider how Friends of Blood Run can sustain its marketing and outreach efforts over time while building stronger relationships with key audiences, supporters, schools, and community partners.
