The goal of this project was for senior engineering students to provide structural reviews, specifications, and recommendations for developing a community garden on the parking garage site. The project created a report, structural analysis and designs for rooftop garden, and a poster.

The City of Sioux City and the Downtown Partners Livability Taskforce were seeking assistance with the identification, planning, and design of areas in downtown Sioux City where additional greenspace could be developed. In particular, a rooftop on a city-owned parking garage was of interest as the potential site of a rooftop garden. Identifying and designing greenspaces for areas such as the parking garage would help positively impact Sioux City's efforts as a Blue Zone community, spur business creation, and help increase market rate housing opportunities within downtown.
