Webster City Recreation Promotion and Branding

As part of their graduate capstone project, Sports & Recreation students collaborated with students in the School of Urban and Regional Planning to assist in the creation of a promotion and branding guide for Webster City Parks & Recreation Department.

Webster City Solar Art Sculpture

Through a partnership between the University of Iowa Office of Outreach and Engagement, the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History, and the City of Webster City, Iowa, faculty member Dan Miller and his students designed and constructed a “solar sculpture” that will become a permanent installation of functional art in downtown Webster City.

Webster City Wetlands Engineering & Design

As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided the design of a constructed wetlands for stormwater management, giving consideration to the settling and uptake of pollutants, wildlife, and related cost estimates for the project.

Webster City White Fox Creek Bridge Engineering & Design

As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided designs and costs estimates for a pedestrian bridge spanning the White Fox Creek in Kendall Young Park within Webster City.


Welcome Center

As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course of the  Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the students had the opportunity to complete a site design for the Center Complex and the structural design of the Welcome Center for the city of Muscatine. The students coordinated with the City in the building design specifications so it is capable of hosting all the desired programs envisioned by interested parties.

Wellman Sustainability Plan

Urban and Regional Planning students created The Wellman Sustainability Plan which centers on sustainability-oriented recommendations for the City of Wellman.

Recommendations were drafted based on surveys, public meetings, and discussions with local officials. The Plan was a ten-year road map that categorizes recommendations into seven topics: economic development, water, parks and recreations, transportation, energy efficiency, housing, and food.

West Delaware Community School District Marketing & Branding

Marketing students in the Tippie College of Business Marketing Institute developed a marketing strategy to promote the West Delaware County Community School District and to help stem recent open enrollment out of the district.

The West Delaware County Community School District (West Delaware CCSD) is based in Manchester, Iowa and serves the communities of Dundee, Greeley, Manchester, Masonville, and Ryan. The district operates three schools, all in Manchester.


Winneshiek County Public Art

Students from the School of Art & Art history developed two public art pieces. The first project emblematizes the Decorah eagles in a sculpture that celebrates the natural assets of Winneshiek County. The second playfully acknowledges the mythical gnome-like “nisse” of Norwegian culture through several small ceramic doors and windows that will be displayed in local parks for the mischievous “nisse” to use.
