As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students will complete an evaluation and redesign of four parking lots in downtown Clinton, Iowa.
The parking capacity needs to be evaluated through conversations with neighboring property owners and based on demand, in addition to exploring options for resizing the lots if necessary. Drainage, lighting, surface, plantings, and entrances/exits need to be reevaluated and redesigned to correct for inadequacies and meet professional standards.
Second-year Master of Public Affairs (MPA) students collaborated with administrators and students at Muscatine Community College in the development of policies and best practices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and implementing a Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Initiative.

Students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication will provide the Maquoketa River Watershed Management Authority (MRWMA) with recommendations for website design, layout, and content to achieve MRWMA's short-term and long-term goals.
Students enrolled in the Tippie College of Business course Marketing and Sustainability worked in teams to develop three different marketing and communications campaigns for the Maquoketa River Watershed Management Authority.
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students completed an evaluation of four historic lime kilns and property in Jackson County, including the kilns, rock crusher, two-span bridge, dike system, aqueduct, and stormwater management. They also provided designs to protect the structures as well as improvements to the property that enhance the visitor experience.
Department of Cinematic Arts student Andrew Senneff created a short informational film about the Maquoketa River Watershed, with the goal of educating the public about the importance of watershed management.
As part of the ICIGO student organization within the Department of Geographical and Sustainability Sciences, students created an interactive GIS map for the Maquoketa River watershed. The students used Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools to make a user-friendly map showing important features of the watershed.
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, a group of students completed engineering plans for the redesign of a riverside constructed wetland and a 12-acre flood plain and prairie in Monticello, Iowa.
MFA students will design and install a public art piece for the Manchester Fish Hatchery, driven by a process of public engagement so that the piece reflects the values, stories, and/or identity of the community.
Urban and Regional Planning students in the School of Planning and Public Affairs developed a Story Map to explore and better understand issues surrounding transportation and flooding in the Maquoketa River Watershed.
This project takes the form of a Story Map. A story map compiles photographs, maps, audio, video, and text into a webpage to tell a story.
Marketing teams in the Tippie College of Business Marketing Institute developed multiple options for new branding, including logos and taglines, for the City of Sabula.
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students completed an evaluation and redesign of a land use master plan for undeveloped land in Maquoketa, Iowa.
As part of their capstone project, second-year graduate students from the Master of Public Affairs program developed a list of organizational and policy recommendations to strengthen the Maquoketa Farmers Market and to increase regional collaboration and access to local foods.
